Businge “Stephen” Katenta
Mr. Katenta has over 22 years of experience in the real estate industry specializing in public-private partnerships, economic development and value add opportunities.
Mr. Katenta arrived to the United States as a diplomat from Africa with his father, the Ambassador to the United States from Uganda who served in Washington D.C. under Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush. This provided Mr. Katenta hands on formal training on how to effectively manage public affairs and political strategy. As a result, he developed excellent networking skills. He is an expert at directing community outreach campaigns to garnish support for some of the most challenging real estate projects and minority-based initiatives.
When he worked for the Mayor’s Office in the City of Los Angeles his focus was to provide business assistance to minority and small businesses. He was responsible for minority, small business contracting of major transportation projects such as the Alameda corridor. He also coached minority, small businesses on how to brand and grow their companies.
Mr. Katenta also served as a Land Use and Planning Commissioner reviewing and approving 100’s of acres of zoning and land use plans for major real estate development projects and infrastructure improvements in unincorporated Los Angeles County.
In addition to having his real estate licenses in California and Arizona since 2004, he has personally invested in several real estate development ventures and is directly involved with site selection, entitlements, market analysis, leasing, ground up construction and rehab projects.
He is the proud father of a 10-year-old daughter who is competing for the junior Olympic swim team and a 6 year old son who is a star soccer player.
